The hunting lodge Karlsbrunn - cultural history and information about the current reconstruction
The late baroque building and its forest garden are among the most significant places of art and culture in the Saarbrücken region. Anyone who recognizes the eventful history of the cultural monument, the traces of the most diverse uses that can still be seen today, and the cultural landscape - where German and French culture meet - can see the place and its radiance into the present with different eyes. These qualities create identity and the unmistakable atmosphere of a poetic place and bring people to life. Likewise, these qualities also provide the source of inspiration for the valorization and redevelopment of the building, which have been taking their course since 2020.

Present in the mirror of the past
A tour through the places of art and culture on the Saarbrücken castle rock
Today, Saarbrücken Castle, in conjunction with the Saar Historical Museum, the Museum of Prehistory and Early History - along with the Old Collection and the Museum in the Castle Church - sees itself as a multifaceted place of art and culture that stimulates further thinking.
A stroll through these extraordinary places of remembrance poetically conveys an idea of the different times, architectures and lifestyles of a refuge to which the city of Saarbrücken owes its name.
The past builds the future. In this spirit, the congenial artist and architect Gottfried Böhm gave Saarbrücken Castle its current silhouette as the city crown of Saarbrücken. He died last year at the age of 101. The 2022 rambles pay special attention to his work!
