Places of art and culture in the Regional Association of Saarbrücken

There are a number of special places of art and culture to discover in the Saarbrücken region, which either have a cultural-historical significance or are part of contemporary building culture and also pursue a public, cultural and artistic collection and mission. The Karlsbrunn hunting lodge is no exception. The common thread is that they all - in different ways - develop and shape cultural and art projects as well as socially relevant themes from the respective "spirit of the place". As part of an illustrated presentation, the project's creator will introduce these places of art and culture with their individual potential. The accompanying brochure will be available on the evening (free of charge).

Seeing art - Cultural site Wintringer Chapel: "Writing the future II" Monika Schrickel

20 years ago, the well-known Saarland artist Monika Schrickel (1940 - 2022) provided an important artistic impetus with her work "Writing the Future" at the Wintringer Chapel Cultural Site. Since then, the vision of writing a future worth living through the signs of art has become the guiding principle of this Cultural site. This vision has run like a thread through 20 years of cultural work in the former medieval priory church and has been reflected in a wide variety of artistic works. The artist's exhibited works will be presented and discussed as part of a local talk. In a dialog with the audience, curator Peter Michael Lupp will draw a line from the eventful history of the medieval priory church to the programmatic approach of the contemporary art projects.

Bliesgau UNESCO Biosphere Reserve

The future vision of a Saarland model region and the symbolic power of nature.

In 2009, UNESCO recognized large parts of the Bliesgau as a biosphere reserve. The Saarbrücken region and the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf are also integrated into the model region. What does the UNESCO biosphere reserve concept mean in practice? What expectations are placed on the people living here, what fields of action are linked to it? How can the content and concrete utopias of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve reach the heart of society and become the driving force behind sustainable lifestyles? The lecture illuminates and discusses the specifics of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve and its fields of action from an ethical and cultural perspective.
