Places of art and culture in the Regional Association of Saarbrücken

In the Saarbrücken region, there are a number of special places of art and culture to be discovered, which either have a cultural-historical significance or belong to the building culture of the present and likewise pursue a public, cultural and artistic collecting and broadcasting mission. In addition to established art and cultural institutions, some of which are also of national importance, these include lesser-known places.

The Saarbrücken Regional Association strives to connect and develop these places into an informal collective and network. The unifying line is that they all develop and shape - in the most diverse ways - cultural and art projects as well as socially relevant topics out of the respective "spirit of the place".

In the context of a pictorial lecture, Peter Michael Lupp presents these places of art and culture with their individual potentials. The accompanying brochure about the "places of art and culture in the Regionalverband Saarbrücken" will be available free of charge on this evening.

Images and thoughts about being on the road along the paths of the pilgrims of St. James

At times, the time is ripe to set out and walk new paths. This is the context of the over 1,000-year cultural history of the European paths of the pilgrims of St. James. The European model project "Sternenweg/Chemin des étoiles" links this myth with the origins of the European idea in our greater region. "The journey and search for traces under the Milky Way and along the sunken medieval pilgrimage routes in our homeland offers something like the painting ground for those inner images that make life better understood and inventive in a new way for sustainable ways of living", writes the idea giver and director of this model project Peter Michael Lupp in the accompanying "poetic" illustrated book.

Note: The event offers a good opportunity to prepare the content of the meditative pilgrimages of the author on Sat. 24.03.2023 (spring hike) and Sat. 24.06.2023 (summer hike).

Picture lecture/Discussion: UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau

About the future vision of a Saarland model region and the symbolic power of nature

In 2009, UNESCO recognized large parts of the Bliesgau as the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve. The Saarbrücken region, including the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf, is also integrated into the model region. But what does the concept of a UNESCO biosphere reserve mean in practice? How can the content and concrete utopias of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve reach the heart of society and become the driving force behind exemplary sustainable lifestyles for the people who live and work here?

During the lecture, the specifics of the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve and its fields of action will be highlighted and discussed from the perspective of ethical and cultural aspects. The symbolic power of nature and the wisdom inherent in it will be discussed. In turning to nature and observing it closely, man recognizes what he truly is. A child of the earth, who is well advised to fathom the wisdom of nature. Humans can gain access to these wisdoms and laws of nature and thereby participate more actively in a reharmonization process of their own personality, but also towards creation. People have been on the trail of this phenomenon since time immemorial: The doctrine of the "Golden Ratio", which can have an enormous effect as an impulse generator for thinking, researching and designing.

Ultimately, the citizen-oriented research mandate is: How can it be possible for people to get involved and understand themselves with their own personal thrust as part of the solution to the upcoming change?
