Pictures and thoughts about traveling along the paths of the pilgrims of St. James - the "Starry Path"

Sometimes the time is ripe to set off and explore new paths. This is the context of the 1000-year cultural history of the European pilgrimage routes of St. James. The European model project "Starry Path/Chemin des étoiles" (www.sternenweg.net) links this myth with the origins of the European idea in the Greater Region. "Being on the road and searching for traces under the Milky Way and along the sunken medieval pilgrimage routes in our homeland offers something like the painting ground for those inner images that allow us to understand life better and make us inventive in a new way for sustainable forms of living," writes the idea generator and director of this model project, Peter Michael Lupp, in the accompanying "poetic" illustrated book. Note: The event offers a good opportunity to prepare the content of the author's guided pilgrimages.

Places of art and culture in the Regional Association of Saarbrücken

There are a number of special places of art and culture to discover in the Saarbrücken region, which either have a cultural-historical significance or are part of contemporary building culture and also pursue a public, cultural and artistic collection and mission. In addition to established art and cultural institutions, some of which are of national importance, there are also lesser-known places. These include the Karlsbrunn hunting lodge and forest garden. The common thread is that they all - in different ways - develop and shape cultural and art projects as well as socially relevant themes from the respective "spirit of the place". The curator of the project will present these places of art and culture with their individual potentials in an illustrated lecture. The accompanying brochure will be available on the evening (free of charge).

UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau

Lecture

In 2009, UNESCO recognized large parts of the Bliesgau as a biosphere reserve. The Saarbrücken region and the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf are also integrated into the model region. What does the UNESCO biosphere reserve concept mean in practice? What expectations are placed on the people living here, what fields of action are linked to it? How can the content and concrete utopias of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve reach the heart of society and become the driving force behind sustainable lifestyles? The lecture illuminates and discusses the specifics of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve and its fields of action from an ethical and cultural perspective.
