Lights for the future of our earth

The path to an ecologically sustainable future can only succeed if people become more aware of the fullness of creation and develop a physical, mental and spiritual connection with the earth.

Draufsicht auf eine Anordnung von dutzenden Kernen in der Dunkelheit

At the turn of the year, guests of the Wintringer farm at the cultural site Wintringer Chapel were invited to light a candle. In doing so, they symbolized their willingness to perceive and preserve our living space - the earth - more consciously.

The Limits to Growth - New works

Based on the installation "The Limits to Growth" and the mural "Seeds" at the cultural site Wintringer Chapel, Hermann Bigelmayr continues to work tirelessly on the subject.

In 2014, a 300-year-old oak tree near his home village in Usterbach fell in a storm, leaving behind mighty trunks over 20 meters long. They provided the sculptor with the impetus to continue his work.

Working with this old and venerable oak was a great challenge for me. The carving out of the cuboids for my new work on the theme "The Limits to Growth" has put me in an ambivalent situation. I pushed myself beyond my physical and also mental limits to peel out a new message to humanity from this fallen monument of nature. It was as if the fallen oak wanted to whisper to me more courage for less and thus for humility. I believe herein lies the essential message of my work: courage to the less is a key to the survival concept of mankind!

Hermann Bigelmayr

His latest works can be seen until 01.02.2015 in the Museum of Fine Arts in Oberfahlheim in the district of Neu-Ulm.

Another world is not only possible, it is in the making. On a quiet day, I can hear it breathing. The idea of sustainability makes me want to live a life that reaches far.
